On November 14, CrowdComms attended smilelondon at etc. St Pauls. Over the 8 years smilelondon has been running, it’s turned into a highlight of our calendar. The organisers really do know the digital space. The event is designed to challenge, maximise and enhance attendees’ digital workspace experience.
It’s the perfect environment to showcase our event app and makes smilelondon a pleasure to attend and support. It is an event we recommend to anyone interested in exploring the benefits of digital collaboration.
Here are our highlights, but do check in on the smilelondon website for heaps more from the event itself:
App Introduction, Polling & Q&A
As the providers of the smile event app, we were keen that it received a worthy unveiling. We were not disappointed – the app was expertly introduced. The opening remarks featured a polling question to set the scene for the interesting sessions ahead.
Questions via the app and the voting up feature kept the speakers and moderator very busy at question time in every session.
A microphone was available, but audiences loved the app’s Q&A features so much that I don’t think it was used even once.
Gaming
Smilelondon is famous for its table sessions and I was delighted to run one this year on the topic of gaming at events.
To demonstrate how fun (and beneficial) event gaming can be, we created a game specific for smile. A free event app was up for grabs and we had plenty of eager contestants battle it out.
The prize was taken by Dan Thomas of Lloyds Banking Group who completed all the challenges in record time!
Networking
We were thrilled that so many attendees came to find us to compliment us on the event app. Attendees were so enamoured with app, they were eager to find out more about how they could use it at their own events. It was a great way to forge new connections with some impressive individuals.
We also invited some CrowdComms clients to attend as our guests. It was lovely to have a chance to catch up and chew the fat about the latest and greatest in the world of internal communications.
Learning
Smile’s session content was fantastic and really easy to listen to. Internal communications guru, Marc Wright effortlessly ran each session with the consummate ease of a seasoned chat show host.
There was a lot of action on the Twitter feed too, with smilelondon reaching trending status by lunchtime.
